AUR leader sends delegation to Cotroceni talks, calls for snap elections
George Simion announced he will not attend the prime-ministerial consultations convened by President Nicușor Dan, but will send an AUR delegation to the Palace of Cotroceni.
AUR’s leader George Simion declared he will not personally join the consultations organized by President Nicușor Dan to select a new prime minister, opting instead to send a party delegation to the Palace of Cotroceni. In a TikTok video, Simion urged the swift scheduling of snap elections and demanded an end to the alleged arrests linked to the presidential office. He affirmed that his and the party’s positions have not shifted since the removal of Bolojan from parliament. Simion also referenced recent departures of individuals who no longer belong to AUR, stressing the party’s internal discipline and alignment with national interests alongside Călin Georgescu.
Why it matters
The move signals AUR’s continued opposition to one outlet government formation process and its push for early elections.
