DAP leaders convene CEC meeting to set response after Najib’s conditional pardon

DAP’s Central Executive Committee convened at the party headquarters shortly after 2.54 pm, with Loke among the first arrivals. The meeting was attended by a slate of senior figures, including DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, organising secretary Khoo Poay Tiong, treasurer Ngeh Koo Ham, Wanita chief Teo Nie Ching, deputy secretary-general and federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh, deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming, vice-chairmen Syahredzan Johan and J Arul Kumar, international secretary Kasthuri Patto and CEC member Lim Hui Ying.

The committee began deliberations at 3 pm to formulate DAP’s response to the king’s decision, announced by the Prime Minister’s Department, to grant former prime minister Najib a conditional pardon. Under the terms, Najib will remain under house arrest until August 23 2028, provided he pays a reduced fine of RM50 million in his SRC International case. The pardon follows a prior reduction of his original 12-year sentence to six years and a fine cut from RM210 million to RM50 million. DAP’s discussion will shape its political strategy moving forward.
