Delhi court orders police report on FIR request against student activist and father for alleged religious insults

In a hearing at Patiala House Courts, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mridul Sharma ordered the Delhi Police to provide an action-taken report regarding a plea to register an FIR against a student activist from the Cockroach Janata Party and her father. The petition, presented by advocate Amita Sachdeva, cites four X posts made by the minor between September 2023 and August 2026 that allegedly contain offensive references to Hindu deities, invoking sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.

The complainant also alleges that the father operated the account from home and failed to remove the content despite notice, requesting preservation of the posts and related electronic evidence. The court has set the next hearing for January 28. The case follows separate legal actions involving influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, who faced assault charges and a POCSO complaint linked to the same protest.
