Feijóo praises Supreme Court suspension of voting rights for naturalized citizens

PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to keep the suspension of voting for naturalized citizens under the grandchildren law.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo celebrated the Supreme Court's maintenance of the suspension on voting rights for naturalized citizens covered by the grandchildren law, saying the court made a clear, elementary point. He highlighted that the Central Electoral Board had already indicated the instruction conflicted with existing legislation and stressed the need for a clean electoral register. Feijóo emphasized that the Spanish passport must retain its full legal weight and that the party does not oppose granting voting rights to legitimate grandchildren of exiles.

He dismissed accusations that the PP is against such passports as false, and warned against indiscriminate extensions of voting rights to any citizen with distant ancestry. He pledged that the party will keep its territorial structure active to monitor the electoral process and ensure its representatives are present at polling stations.
