Former government spokesperson attacks Luca Niculescu's cabinet over premier's authority
Ioana Ene Dogioiu criticised the new cabinet led by Luca Niculescu, saying the prime minister’s authority has been weakened by changes to the government table arrangement.
Ioana Ene Dogioiu, who previously served as spokesperson for former premier Bolojan, launched a public attack on the cabinet of Luca Niculescu. She argued that the re-organisation of the government meeting table, which now seats the prime minister among other ministers, erodes his authority. Dogioiu contrasted this with a similar arrangement used during Marcel Ciolacu’s tenure, which she said was meant to send a populist message about democracy.
According to her, one outlet symbolism is intended to explicitly diminish Niculescu’s role. She also suggested that the prime minister may be held responsible for any governmental shortcomings, even though major decisions are likely steered by the Social-Democratic party. Dogioiu concluded that the real power lies with the PSD vice-premier, not the prime minister.
