Former UiTM Holdings chief faces trial over RM37.4 million solar project fund misuse

Azlizan Fadzil has been charged with diverting RM37.4 million intended for a 50 MW solar plant in Pahang and was released on RM50,000 bail.

Prosecutors allege that Azlizan Fadzil misappropriated funds earmarked for a large-scale photovoltaic project in Pahang between February and October 2017. He faces a Section 409 Penal Code charge that carries up to 20 years in prison, whipping and a fine. Judge Nasir Nordin set bail at RM50,000 with two sureties and ordered the surrender of his passport. The next case management hearing is scheduled for 3 November, with defence counsel Hasselbelfi Hasshahari Johann Mawi present.

Why it matters
