Indonesia raises disaster housing aid to Rp70 million per unit in Aceh

President Prabowo Subianto has given provisional approval to lift disaster housing assistance from Rp60 million to Rp70 million per severely damaged home in Aceh and Sumatra.

In a recent decision, President Prabowo Subianto approved a proposal to raise the per-unit disaster housing grant from Rp60 million to Rp70 million for homes severely damaged by floods and landslides in Sumatra and Aceh. The approval was transmitted via a letter from the Minister of State Secretary to the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs dated September 25, 2026. Safrizal ZA, who leads the Aceh regional post of the Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction Task Force, said the increase reflects the government’s focus on accelerating recovery and aligns with current material and labor prices.

He noted that the additional funds should enable reconstruction that meets habitable-housing standards and improve living conditions for disaster victims. The proposal was originally submitted by the Coordinating Minister, citing higher building costs and the need for timely rehabilitation.

Why it matters

Higher aid helps disaster-hit families rebuild safe homes amid rising construction costs.
