Interim Prime Minister Bolojan Says PSD Demands He Govern Without Full Powers
Ilie Bolojan accuses PSD of asking him to continue governing after a no-confidence vote while offering no alternative government plan.
In a Facebook post, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan charged PSD with asking him to leave immediately after the censure motion, despite not providing a solution for taking over the government, and now demanding that he continue to govern. He stressed that Romania needs a full-authority executive and that one outlet limited-mandate cabinet merely keeps the nation afloat. Bolojan said the National Liberal Party (PNL) is prepared to back the investiture of a new government even if it does not join the cabinet, and he has presented this proposal and the party’s conditions to Luca Niculescu.
He suggested that a technocratic executive could be formed through agreements with each parliamentary party, setting clear objectives and timelines. Bolojan also affirmed that PNL will not support solutions it deems ineffective and will not return to a coalition with PSD, accusing the latter of avoiding governance to protect political interests. He highlighted achievements such as completing the PNRR and passing rating agency evaluations, arguing that the government has honored its commitments.
