Interim Vice-Premier Oana Gheorghiu blames PSD for blocking new cabinet and calls early elections

Interim Vice-Premier Oana Gheorghiu, who also leads the PNL in Bucharest’s Sector 4, launched a sharp attack on the Social Democratic Party after it declined to vote for the cabinet headed by Siegfried Mureșan. She claimed the PSD’s refusal stems from a refusal to cut political privileges and to support genuine state restructuring. Gheorghiu traced the party’s recent position changes, noting its earlier threats to leave the government and its later insistence on a different prime minister.

She also implicated AUR in deepening the crisis that followed the May no-confidence vote that ousted the Bolojan government. Emphasising the need for a stable, fully empowered cabinet, she called for early parliamentary elections if a lasting majority cannot be formed.
