Mercy Malaysia launches nationwide haze response kits for vulnerable groups
Mercy Malaysia is deploying a haze emergency response across Malaysia, distributing medical kits and health advice to at-risk populations as air quality deteriorates.
In response to deteriorating air quality in several Malaysian states, Mercy Malaysia has rolled out a haze emergency response program nationwide. Building on earlier work in Sarawak, the organization will supply Haze Emergency Response Kits that include loratadine, wet wipes, normal saline, lozenges, a KF94 mask, a clear pouch and a health information flyer. The initiative targets vulnerable groups such as children, seniors, pregnant women and individuals with respiratory or cardiac ailments.
Mercy Malaysia will continue to track haze conditions, assess emerging needs and work with federal and state agencies to ensure timely advisories and assistance. President Datuk Dr Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus called for collective action from government, civil society, the private sector and the public, urging people to follow health guidance and support affected neighbours. The group is seeking public and corporate donations to fund kit preparation and distribution.
Why it matters
The haze poses serious health risks, and coordinated aid can protect Malaysia's most vulnerable citizens.
