Mureșan's Cabinet Faces Scrutiny as Parliament Reviews Ten Ministerial Nominees
Parliament will resume hearings on ten of Siegfried Mureșan's proposed ministers on Tuesday, after only two have so far received committee approval.
On Tuesday, the Romanian Parliament will continue its assessment of ten ministerial candidates put forward by designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan. So far, only two nominees—Tanczos Barna for Agriculture and Alexandru Nazare for Finance—have secured favorable committee opinions. The pending list includes Mircea Abrudean (Interior), Dragoș Pîslaru (Investments and European Projects), Raluca Turcan (Labor), Oana Gheorghiu (Health), Oana Țoiu (Foreign Affairs), Andrea Chiș (Justice), Bulcsu Koppany Otvos (Culture), Mihai Dimian (Education), Cseke Attila (Development) and Diana Buzoianu (Environment).
Monday's hearings did not convince the committees for the other candidates. Mureșan has signaled readiness to discuss the government program with PSD head Sorin Grindeanu, proposing a meeting inside the Parliament rather than at the PSD headquarters. The upcoming plenary vote on Wednesday will decide both the governing agenda and the full cabinet composition, marking the third attempt to form a government after previous failures under President Nicușor Dan's nominations.
Why it matters
The outcome will determine whether Romania can finally establish a stable government after multiple failed attempts.
