PAC flags RM260 million UiTM funding routed without finance minister's sign-off
The Public Accounts Committee reported that nearly RM260 million transferred to UiTM Holdings entities was not approved by the finance minister as required by law.
The Public Accounts Committee disclosed that almost RM260 million was moved into entities owned by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Holdings without obtaining the finance minister's approval, a breach of financial regulations. PAC chair Mas Ermieyati Samsudin highlighted that the investigation uncovered critical flaws in the university's investment management and corporate governance structures. She urged immediate reforms to ensure that all public-fund expenditures comply with legal standards and deliver value for money.
Detailed recommendations have been sent to both the finance ministry and UiTM's administration to strengthen oversight mechanisms. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, an ex-officio PAC member, collaborated closely on the review to rule out any misappropriation or abuse of power. PAC affirmed its ongoing role in monitoring government finances for transparency and accountability.
Why it matters
