Parliament debates central bank report and reforms to public media and company registers
The Hungarian Parliament will hold a joint debate on the Magyar Nemzeti Bank’s 2025 report, proposals to restructure public broadcasters, and changes to the company-register law.
On Wednesday, the Országgyűlés will conduct a combined discussion of several items. First, it will review the Magyar Nemzeti Bank’s 2025 business report, where Governor Varga Mihály attributes financial-market stability to a strict monetary stance and notes continued profitability in the banking sector. The agenda also covers the adoption of founding statutes for the Magyar Rádió és Televízió and Magyar Távirati Iroda nonprofit corporations, with the goal of harmonising their legal, ownership and organisational frameworks.
Lawmakers will further consider a revision of the environmental protection act to streamline the timeline for international environmental impact assessments. Finally, the parliament will debate amendments to the law governing legal-entity registers, moving the effective date from 2027 to 2029 and addressing the integration of various registries.
Why it matters
The decisions will shape Hungary's monetary policy transparency, public-media structure and corporate registration system.
