PH communication chief says Adly's experience noted, but poster boy decision pending
PH communication director Fahmi Fadzil acknowledged Adly's administrative background but said the party has not yet decided on a PRN Melaka poster boy.
At a press event following the transfer of RM5.2 billion in funding to Digital Nasional Bhd, Pakatan Harapan communication chief Fahmi Fadzil said the party has not yet deliberated on naming a poster boy for the upcoming PRN in Melaka. While he highlighted Adly's prior role as Melaka's chief minister, he emphasized that the decision rests with the party's leadership and specifically with election director Amirudin Shari.
Party deputy chief Hayatul Kamil had earlier urged that Adly, also a party vice-president and former defence deputy minister, be chosen because of his state-level governance experience. Analyst Mazlan Ali from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia also supported Adly, noting his success in retaining a seat in the 2021 PRN and his ability to attract multi-ethnic voters. Fahmi reiterated that the matter will be taken up by the party hierarchy.
Why it matters
The choice of a campaign figure could shape PH's strategy and voter appeal in the crucial Melaka by-election.
