PNL convenes emergency meeting to decide support for Luca Niculescu's government
The National Liberal Party held an urgent session to discuss backing the incoming Niculescu cabinet after reports the president might dissolve parliament if no agreement is reached.
The National Liberal Party organized an emergency gathering on Wednesday at noon to deliberate its stance on the proposed Luca Niculescu government. Sources from the Cotroceni Palace indicated that President Nicușor Dan might dissolve the legislature if parties fail to reach a consensus on supporting the cabinet. Former prime minister Ilie Bolojan attended the session in the Parliament building and is expected to outline the party's backing strategy.
Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party scheduled a meeting at Vila Lac to decide its role, with leader Sorin Grindeanu rejecting a technocratic option. UDMR president Kelemen Hunor affirmed the party's willingness to vote for and sign a support agreement with Niculescu, regardless of the cabinet's composition.
