Police continue search for former central bank governor's son over alleged fraud
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Matolcsy Ádám and are still looking for him, linking him to a suspected economic fraud case involving his father, former central bank governor Matolcsy György.
The police website continues to display a warrant for Matolcsy Ádám, indicating that law enforcement is still seeking him in connection with an economic fraud probe. Officials have tried to reach him by phone and email without success. Prosecutors allege that he helped arrange a sham securities-loan contract with the Central-European III Private Equity Fund, represented by Optima Befektetési Zrt. and Quartz Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt., to channel control of the PADME Foundation’s assets to a circle close to his father, former central bank governor Matolcsy György.
The case also implicates Stofa György, who has served on the board of the GTC Group in Warsaw and led Optima Zrt., both linked to the central bank’s foundation investments. While Matolcsy György was detained, only Matolcsy Ádám’s regular lawyer and a senior executive from a company tied to him were taken into custody.
