Police officers step in for absent teachers during Barmm election machine testing

Eighty-six teachers assigned to the Bangsamoro parliamentary election ACM testing failed to appear, so police officers trained for election duties took their place.

During the final testing and sealing of Automated Counting Machines for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao parliamentary elections, 86 teachers did not show up. Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the vacant slots were filled by members of the Special Electoral Board, who are police officers trained for election work. The substitution was discussed at a meeting with the Asian Network for Free Elections and the National Democratic Institute at the Comelec command center in Cotabato City.

Why it matters

The substitution keeps the Bangsamoro election process on schedule despite staffing gaps.
