President Prabowo forecasts surge of large-scale investment into Indonesia soon
President Prabowo said Indonesia is set to receive a wave of major private investment in the coming weeks, citing strong economic fundamentals.
In a televised address, President Prabowo Subianto announced that Indonesia expects a significant influx of large-scale private investment within weeks, driven by solid macroeconomic indicators. He noted that first-half 2026 investment has already produced 1.45 million jobs, representing roughly half of the annual goal, and that 2025’s investment generated more than 2.7 million jobs. The president attributed investor interest to low inflation at 2.92 percent, a relatively low debt burden and a fiscal deficit staying under the government’s three-percent limit.
He also cited a Goldman Sachs outlook that places Indonesia among the world’s largest economies by 2050. The administration plans to leverage these fundamentals to sustain growth and attract further capital.
Why it matters
The expected investment surge could boost Indonesia's economy and job market amid global uncertainty.
