PSD leader Grindeanu pledges no tax hikes and outlines reform agenda
Sorin Grindeanu said the PSD will not raise taxes for individuals or companies and presented plans for public administration reforms.
Sorin Grindeanu addressed the press following the PSD's National Permanent Bureau session, stating that the party intends to keep taxes unchanged for both citizens and businesses. He framed the PSD as a moderating force between populist proposals and austerity measures, insisting that budget challenges should not be solved by new taxes. Grindeanu outlined a reform strategy that includes voluntary amalgamation of small municipalities, to be presented to Premier Luca Niculescu, and a central-level agency consolidation overseen by Vice-premier Marian Neacșu, with deadlines set for March 2027.
He added that the reform budget will be incorporated into the 2027 fiscal plan. In the short term, he called on ministries to resolve pending issues from the former administration, including financing for the UPU, ambulance services, and drought relief payments.
