PSOE spokesperson Montse Mínguez’s partner runs Panama firms and 30-plus Spanish rentals

Sergi Vélez Viola, the partner of PSOE spokesperson Montse Mínguez, controls two Panama-registered companies and a Spanish rental operation with at least 30 properties.

Sergi Vélez Viola, partner of PSOE spokesperson Montse Mínguez, heads two Panama-based companies that form part of his family’s broader commercial network. In Spain he operates through Nest Capital Homes, a firm that owns and rents at least 30 apartments and studios, and has faced multiple eviction lawsuits for non-payment. His business lineage traces back to his father, José Luis Vélez Burrell, a well-known Lérida developer linked to the construction firm Uvesa, who died in a 2018 traffic accident.

Vélez Viola also sat on the board of Argentina’s Nueve Tigres SA until his resignation in 2019 and has cited projects in Poland, Belgium, Brazil and Argentina. While the government is tightening regulations on large property owners, Mínguez publicly defended the measures, calling the scrutiny a personal attack and emphasizing that the family complies with tax and housing laws.

Why it matters

It reveals a possible conflict of interest for a senior PSOE spokesperson defending policies that affect her partner’s rental empire.
