Putin relays Iran's stance on Middle East peace to Trump, Kremlin says

The Kremlin reported that Vladimir Putin conveyed Iran's position on a prospective peace settlement to Donald Trump during a phone call.

The Kremlin announced that Vladimir Putin informed Donald Trump about Iran's perspective on a potential peace agreement for the Middle East during a phone call on Friday. This transmission of Tehran's stance came after Putin met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of a summit in Turkmenistan, where he voiced a desire to help broker a settlement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russian leader shared the Iranian side's views with Trump, but offered no details on how Trump responded or what Iran specifically proposed.

The conflict, which started after U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran in February, has remained deadlocked for more than seven months, despite a June memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. Recent Iranian attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz have reignited U.S. military activity, and indirect talks at the UN General Assembly have not yielded a breakthrough.

It shows Russia acting as a conduit between the U.S. and Iran, potentially influencing peace negotiations in a volatile region.
