BJP and Congress clash over student posters at Rahul Gandhi's Indore rally

Rahul Gandhi's planned "Chhatron Ki Goonj" gathering in Indore sparked a heated exchange between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. The Congress city president, Chintu Chouksey, alleged that the BJP had plastered the city with "Jhooth Ki Goonj" posters to sabotage the event. In response, BJP state co-media in-charge Alok Dubey said the posters reflected students' own anger over being compelled to attend the rally, and that the campaign was student-initiated.

The controversy emerged after Madhya Pradesh police issued a directive assigning joint crowd-control duties to the event organizers, citing the Verma Commission report on the 1991 Rajiv Gandhi assassination. Earlier, the Congress sought permission to use the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on September 12 but was turned down by civic authorities, prompting a postponement to September 19 and a venue shift to land opposite Regional Park, for which the party paid Rs 10.08 lakh to the Indore Development Authority for a three-day lease.
