BJP slams Rahul Gandhi after ABVP sweeps Delhi University student union polls
The ABVP captured key posts in the Delhi University Students' Union election, leaving the Congress-aligned NSUI empty-handed, and BJP leader Sidharth Yadav used the result to attack Rahul Gandhi.
In Saturday’s Delhi University Students' Union elections, the ABVP—affiliated with the RSS—secured the presidency with Yash Dabas (24,576 votes) and added the secretary and joint secretary positions, while independent Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president post with 30,615 votes. The Congress-aligned NSUI failed to win any seat, its presidential candidate Vijai Shankar Meena losing by 2,053 votes and other contenders falling short by narrow margins.
BJP national media co-convener Sidharth Yadav called the result a “tight slap” to Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of promoting a “politics of lies” and asserting that Generation Z rejected his “Chhatron ki Goonj” campaign. Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the ABVP, saying the outcome reflects youth trust in the “Nation First” ideology. Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami echoed the criticism, mocking Gandhi’s outreach efforts.
