DAP leader urges former councillors to keep assisting voters despite losing office
Loke told the Negeri Sembilan DAP gathering that ex-councillors and village council members must continue helping residents, even though the party no longer holds state power.
At the Negeri Sembilan DAP convention in Seremban, Loke urged former local councillors and members of village community management councils to keep providing aid to constituents, rejecting the notion that loss of government positions excuses inaction. He said voters still approach them because they trust DAP and Pakatan Harapan, and that the party must honor that confidence. Loke appealed to DAP MPs and state assemblymen to support grassroots leaders, despite the party now holding nine seats, down from eleven after the recent election losses to MCA in Chennah and Repah.
Having stepped down as state chairman, Loke will not seek re-election to the state committee, preferring to make way for fresh faces and concentrate on national leadership. He reflected on the party’s growth over 22 years and expressed confidence in new state chief J Arul Kumar. Loke concluded by urging the party to ready itself for any scenario, including a potential state election, and to focus on strengthening DAP rather than attacking opponents.
