Designated premier Siegfried Mureşan says he is close to securing 200 guaranteed votes for government investiture

Siegfried Mureşan, the appointed prime minister, told TVR that he counts roughly 200 certain votes for the investiture of his government. He explained that all legislators from the National Liberal Party, USR and UDMR have pledged support, amounting to 170 votes, and that joint work on the governing program has reinforced this commitment. Discussions with the parliamentary group of national minorities have proceeded well, with those groups expected to declare their vote before the plenary session.

Mureşan is also engaging unaffiliated parliamentarians and smaller groups to close the remaining gap, as the threshold stands at 233 votes. He noted that the PSD, currently partnered with AUR, has announced it will not vote for the government, and he has re-contacted PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu with a document highlighting shared policy points.
