India pushes for medals in boxing, shooting and athletics on Asian Games Day 10
On September 29, Indian athletes competed in boxing semifinals, trap shooting qualifiers and multiple athletics finals at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
Day 10 of the Asian Games saw India’s boxing trio - Parveen, Ankush Panghal and Narender - contest semifinal bouts, each already assured of a bronze medal and able to upgrade to silver with a win. The nation’s trap shooters, both men and women, started qualification stages, aiming to secure podium places after earlier mixed-team success. Athletics offered nine Indian finals, spanning pole vault, high jump, hammer throw, 800 m, 5,000 m and relay events.
In archery, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan advanced to the men’s recurve quarterfinals. Kishore Kumar Anbarasu was knocked out of men’s shortboard surfing, while kurash competitor Vipin Kumar fell in the round of 16. Additional Indian participants competed in squash, canoe slalom, sport climbing, tennis, sailing, volleyball and cycling, with schedules and results varying throughout the day.
