Umno Youth chief urges Pakatan Harapan to contest all Melaka seats alone
Umno Youth leader Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh told Pakatan Harapan to drop any cooperation with Barisan Nasional and run candidates in all 28 Melaka state seats.
At a gathering of Umno Youth delegates in Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Dr Muhamad Aklam Saleh urged Pakatan Harapan to abandon any partnership with Barisan Nasional and to contest all 28 seats in the forthcoming Melaka state election. He expressed eagerness to face the coalition across the entire state and sought a show of confidence from the audience, who responded with chants of "Boleh!". Akmal further appealed to the senior party leadership to involve the youth wing in shaping Barisan Nasional's manifesto ahead of the next general election, arguing that the wing's role should focus on policy formulation rather than securing nominations.
He stressed that even if youth members are not selected as candidates, they will still work to secure victory for the party. The remarks highlight internal pressure within UMNO to modernize its approach and attract younger voters.
