Prime Minister Magyar Péter urges public to share live broadcast of government briefing
Prime Minister Magyar Péter asked viewers to repost the live stream of a government press conference after the public broadcaster did not air it.
At the start of a Friday government press conference, Magyar Péter spoke after spokesperson Magyar Éva handed over the floor. He appealed to the live audience to disseminate the broadcast, citing the public broadcaster’s decision to air the series Kisváros instead of the briefing. The prime minister highlighted that the series is produced by Usztics Mátyás and implied that many people might be interested in the government's announcements.
He asked viewers to share the feed so that not only regular viewers of HírTV or Kontroll could follow the proceedings. Magyar Péter also called on the MTVA press department to respond to his criticism and clarify how the briefing was covered.
Why it matters
It shows tension between the government and public media over coverage of official information.
